"I want the potato bird!" My client pointed at a distant and long-forgotten corner of my messy artboard in utter enthusiasm. From all that vast selection of concepts, she picked the one that was just an initial sketch... not even a sketch, a doodle, which I'd almost got rid of beforehand as I wasn't even planning on showing it to her. This potato bird became her art school's logo... Lesson: never feel ashamed to show every stage of your brainstorming (even the dumbest ideas), because you never know when the choice will fall on something unexpected. And it turned out to be a perfect choice, I must say. Ever since then, I always present my polished ideas accompanied by sketches.
